Laurie's Legacy
Laurie’s Legacy
and Breast Cancer Support
Laurie Mezzalingua, a breast cancer patient, entrepreneur, and advocate for those diagnosed with breast cancer, was the driving force behind this project. For the 8 years prior to her death, Laurie used her family endowment to help patients, like herself, lead lives free from the financial and emotional stresses of breast cancer. Oneida healthcare is one of a number of hospitals to receive funding from Saint Agatha Foundation in order to carry on the work Laurie began. Laurie’s Legacy is the only program of financial support designed to assist those struggling to survive and find solace in knowing that they will not have to choose between getting treatment and paying bills. Laurie’s Legacy helps with the following costs:
- Treatment, procedures, and testing
- Prescription co-pays
- Medication not covered by insurance
- Office visits or procedural co-pays
- Wound care systems
- Breast reconstruction
- Lymphedema sleeves
- Alternative treatments not covered by insurance
- Transportation to and from treatment
- Prosthesis
- Post-surgical camisoles/bras
- Wigs
- Wellness needs
